"A wee taste of Ireland in Niagara-on-the-Lake"

Earlier this month, we took a daytrip to the quaint village of Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL). My visit to the Victoria Teas and Coffee shop was described here.

It was a weekday so there were no crowds at the heritage district.
During the summer season, the area is packed with tourists.

At the Just Christmas store, I spotted this pretty teapot wind chime.
The teapot is 24K gold plated and decorated with genuine Swarovski Crystal, hence the $19.99 price tag.

Some cute tea-themed store displays at a gift shop (top) and bakery (bottom).
Not pictured: the scones we purchased at the bakery.

I've been wanting to try out the Irish Tea Room (you can learn more about its history here) for years and finally did so this month!

The Irish Tea Room is located at the back of the Irish Design shop.
I captured this image of the tea room just minutes before the tables filled up with patrons.

My cup of Barry's Tea.
I'm not sure which blend--gold, classic or original--I was served, but it was good!

I ordered the delicious Celtic Shepherds Pie which was so filling that I didn't have room for their traditional scones!

One NOTL tea room down, two left to go (Prince of Wales, The Drawing Room)!

I'm joining the following parties this week:

  1. Every post makes me want to visit this village even more. What a haven for tea lovers. I would definitely like to have tea at the Irish Tea Room. Love that the menu is varied and looks like they serve large portions. Looking forward to reading about the next tea room soon.

  2. I wish I could tag along with you when you're visiting the tea rooms! Ooh what fun that would be. At least I get to take a peek at them through your photos.

  3. What fun that would be! We don't have a lot of tea rooms here on the Island and the ones we do have are mainly open only during the summer months. Lots to look at there where you visited. The tea room sounds wonderful and that little teapot wind chime was adorable! Thanks for sharing with us and joining me for tea today.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  12. Love Niagara on the Lake. We stayed at the Prince of Wales last time we visited. Very nice but have stayed at nicer cheaper places. I wasn't that impressed with the Irish Tea Room. Glad you enjoyed it though.

  16. Beautiful photos!
Perhaps it's good that there aren't wonderful tea rooms and shops like that here where I live. There would be too many temptations. First I would buy the teapot wind chime...
Your previous post was lovely as well. Thank you for sharing!

  17. Hi Margie! That tearoom looks so quant! The food sounds terrific too. The village looks so cute--one of these days I'll have to get to Canada (I'll put it on my list). Thanks so much for your repeat visits to my France posts! I really appreciate it--I know that they are long, I have a hard time not posting a picture I like. My camera is actually not that great--it ATE batteries the whole time. I think I ended up having to spend 30 Euro on batteries just to keep it going--and I brought a lot with me in my suitcase. I'm looking forward to when you get to the other two tea rooms too!
