Back in 2012, a friend and I visited the Naturally Country Gift Shoppe & Tea Room in Mount Hope, Ontario.
This was the first time that I've ever been to a tea room located inside an old country barn!
I didn't photograph the charming rustic decor but you can view other visitors' pictures here.
I was smitten with this Sadler basket weave floral pattern teapot!
The brightly coloured flowers screamed SPRING!
The brightly coloured flowers screamed SPRING!
I can't remember the official name of the hot croissant sandwich that I ordered for lunch but it sure was good!
For dessert, we enjoyed heavenly buttermilk scones with strawberry preserves and whipped cream. YUM!
A few months after our visit, I scored a set of 6 Sadler mugs in the same basket weave floral pattern at a thrift store. The matching teapot was found the following year at a different thrift store.
Earlier this month, I spotted the cream and sugar set at a local antique shop but left them behind. Of course, now I'm kicking myself! I'll try to go back to the shop this week and see if they're still there...
I'm joining the following parties this week:
Well done in finding your own Sadler teapot and mugs. I love the fastener on the teapot that holds on the lid, a great idea for lids that might be a bit loose.
ReplyDeleteOh Hello "Minimalist Margie"! Ha ha! The tea room looks like a great place to visit. I love that you patiently waited and found such pretty teacups. The matching tea pot too though?! Lucky you! I'm surprised you didn't pick up the cream and sugar at once ... I hope it's still there for you.

Hi Margie,
ReplyDeleteI just love your Sadler basket weave teapot and matching mugs. I do hope that the cream and sugar are still there. Remember the line, "Get it or regret it"? Too many times I have gone back and what I wanted is gone. The pastel colours in that teapot are so springish. I hope that your Easter was perfect! Karen
Oh that is a beautiful teapot and mug set. Hope you do get the creamer and sugar bowl. Hope your Easter was wonderful!

ReplyDeleteYour tea in the country barn looks delightful, Margie! I'm drooling over the scone with the preserves and whipped cream. How nice that you found the Sadler teapot and mugs. If the cream and sugar are still there, then it was meant to be (I hope they're there!). Hope you had a blessed and joyful Easter, sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to find the same teapot and some mugs in the pretty Sadler floral basket weave - yes, go back and get the cream and sugar.
ReplyDeleteTea in a barn would be a nice experience, the food looks delicious.
The Sadler teapot and cups were a fabulous find, Margie! I hope you find the cream and sugar still there. A tea room in a barn sounds so quaint and the food looks wonderful. The scone especially appeals to me right now. Yum! Thanks for linking up and taking us on another adventure with you. Have a lovely week.

Dear Margie:
ReplyDeleteI love your Sadler and I too have some in that shape. Yours is perfect for Spring and what an amazing thing to find the mugs too. That sure worked out well. What a darling tea room/shop too! Great fun. Thank you for linking and sharing Margie!
Hi Margie: What a great find. I love it when things like that happen. Have a wonderful week. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteOh, Margie - I sure hope they are there for you - it's wonderful to get sets back together! : - )
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat place to take teatime. Your scone made my mouth water - yum yum yum! I am SO ready for a tea party!
Hugs!
The Sadler teapot is lovely. And nice you found a lovely set for your own. With love Janice
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute place to visit! xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteHi Margie~ what a unique little tea room. My husband and I will be in Ontario the first two weeks if June for the crokinole championships and I must see if this place is close enough to go and visit. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have seen that tea set before and always thought it was darling. I do hope you are able to complete the set. Our thrift shoppes rarely have tea sets, likely because we are in the mountains. What a joy being able to find such beauties.
Enjoy your day~
Love your Sadler China! Those scones sure DO look yummy!
ReplyDeleteLove that Sadler tea set! So pretty. Lucky you to find them. I hope you can also get the creamer and sugar....Christine
ReplyDeleteThe tea set is just perfect for the season, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love that tea set, it's beautiful, it's definitely springlike (and I'm a big fan of yellow). I love the rustic place you visited, just my style. And the dessert...yum!!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing nicer than a beautifully presented tea. I hope the creamer and sugar bowl are waiting for you :-)

ReplyDeleteHi Margie! It was obviously meant to be for that teapot--especially since you got this preview. And wow, a tearoom in an old barn! Those types of experiences are the best :) What happened with the cream and sugar?
ReplyDeleteHi Margie, the Tea room barn is so charming and that food looks delicious! How fun that you got the same china and recently got your cream and sugar, that is so exciting when things like that happen!
ReplyDeleteHappy April!
