Discovery Walks

If you're reading this, it means that I survived my work's 4-week challenge to "get moving." Since I'm allergic to gym workouts, walking was my main form of exercise. These outdoor strolls led to some fun discoveries...

The bibliophile in me geeked out over this super cute Little Free Library.

Kuma's Candy store specializes in Japanese candy...

...and bubble tea!
Because I'm a purist, I ordered papaya milk tea.
It's important to stay hydrated during a workout, right?!?

I also brought home these tasty (but pricey!) matcha candies with condensed milk inside.

The flags at McMaster University were flown at half-mast to mark:
1) National Mourning Day for the Canadian workers killed or injured at the workplace;
2) the passing of Peter George, the University's longest-serving President.
Rest in peace, Peter George.

A cross outside St. Paul's Anglican Church.

The physical activity challenge is over, but I hope to continue these walking workouts!

I'm joining the following parties this week:

  1. Bravo for you, Margie, in completing the four week workout challenge. I laughed when you said that you were allergic to gym workouts!! You're too funny! Thank you for sharing some of your discoveries on your walks. I still need to try bubble tea sometime.

  2. Good for you, Margie! My workouts are on the stationery bike. I will likely not be allowed on it for a few days after tomorrow. Looking forward to getting out and walking in Victoria Park once it warms up then on to the beach hopefully. Can't wait for that! The bubble tea looks good. Have a wonderful week.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  3. I love the Little Free Libraries. I visited one just the other day. They don't have any chairs, but they are thinking a large rock would do. (No one would steal it) Keep on walking!

  8. Hi Margie, you discovered a lot of interesting things while walking and getting your workout.
Love the free library box, so cute!
The Japanese candy store sounds very tempting. I know from my Japanese friends that they have very nice tea treats to go with their teas. I still remember a fantastic green tea sponge cake that one of my Japanese friends made, but that was homemade, of course.
    Warm regards,
    Christina

  9. Oh Margie, you make me smile :) Congratulations to you, my friend! I must confess that I go through cycles where I'm all into working out and I push myself....then I fall off the band wagon and it takes a while for me to get back into it. Oh well.... :)

    Happy day to you! Hugs!

  10. Well done completing the challenge. I love the Little Free Libraries and wished we had one near us. We saw them on our visit to BC and even dropped off some books in one of them. I must be allergic to the price they charge to join a gym so I walk outside a lot.

  14. I have the same allergy....and walk also. You have such interesting places around you! I would have opted for the papaya as well...have never been a fan of bubble tea. Keep up the good work and it looks like your weather is perfect for it. We are still dodging raindrops....have a wonderful week and thanks for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea

  15. Walking is the only exercise I do too ... and lately, not much of even that! You find the most interesting places. I think the candy store kinda defeats the purpose of the whole exercise thing? Just a thought ;) Enjoy your treats!

  16. Good for you!! I hate the gym. I go. But I hate it. Now that the weather is improving.... slowly.... I like the idea of making the walks an adventure of discovery!!

  19. I've been trying to revive my early morning walking habit recently, and discovered that a Little Free Library has popped up on my route! So a few days ago I put a book in that I had in my latest box of things to be donated. I'll take another one next time I walk that route. I'm glad to find someone else who gets so excited about these as I do!
