How Green was My Valley

If you reside in a region that observes Daylight Savings Time, I hope that you've adjusted to the time change that occurred this past weekend.

You may have coped with the lost hour of sleep time by drinking a strong tea such as the Irish Breakfast Tea.

My green teacups are limited so I was delighted when a friend gifted me this lovely green teacup from her late mother's collection. Love the pretty white rose gracing the cup's interior!

The Sutherland China backstamp, circa 1947+
Sutherland China was one of the trade names of Hudson & Middleton Ltd which manufactured bone china and earthenware at Longton, Stroke-on-Tent, Staffordshire from the 1940s to the mid 1970s.

This "Green and White Toile" teapot was a post-Easter sale find at HomeSense last year.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I'm joining the following parties this week:

  1. That is a beautiful green teacup! I love green, and you really don't see many green teacups do you. You have a thoughtful friend to pass this one along to you. Great little rabbity teapot too :) You're a lucky girl to have these! Happy St Paddy's Day!

  2. Wasn't that sweet of your friend to gift you with the pretty green teacup, Margie? It's so perfect for your St. Patrick's Day tea. I do love your darling teapot, too, and I'm sipping my Irish breakfast tea right now.

  3. Dear Margie:
What a clever title and sweet posting of green for St. Patrick's Day. I guess we better not be "green with envy" over that lovely cup and saucer. I am so glad you linked and shared.

  5. The green tea cup is just beautiful. I love how the light colours are on the inside of the cup instead of the outside. I have never tried that tea before but I could have used a cup of it today lol! Enjoy your week, Kelly.

  6. I really like the teapot. HomeSense does have some pretty things if you're there at the right time. The green teacups are beautiful...very unique. Irish Breakfast is a favourite of mine, too. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  7. Happy St. Patrick's Week! Such a pretty green teacup-I love the lustre of the glaze. Very shiny! It's hard to find teacups in kelly green. I do not have any.
I'm quite tired from the time change. I should have brought Irish Breakfast to work instead of a lighter black tea. :)
Your teapot is adorable! So perfect for spring and Easter with the bunny on it. I think your Home Sense is our Home Goods which recently came to our area. I have to have tons of self control in that store. So many cute Easter items. I didn't see that teapot though. Guess I need to make another trip soon.
    Enjoy your week!

  9. Green is unusual for teacups and teapots. You have some very pretty examples. The toile teapot is so pretty. Perfect for March with St. Patrick's Day and also for Easter. I'm on spring break so I got to sleep in and wasn't too bothered by the time change. However, I do wish it would just stay the same year round.

  12. Hi Margie,
Your dark green teacup is a pretty one and a wonderful gift from your friend! I love the teapot; very cute! A cup of Irish Breakfast is always enjoyable and I'm still feeling the effects of the time change although I do prefer the longer evenings so I'm not complaining. My hubby is half Irish and I have a wee bit in me so we will celebrate the day with some Irish goodies. Happy St Patrick's Day this week!

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  13. You don't often see a teacup that shade of green, a nice gift to receive. I too have been having Irish breakfast tea and since we're having our grandson for dinner on St. Paddy's day I best get baking.
Good find on the teapot Margie.
