I've always been partial to tea rooms located in Victorian houses and enjoyed a visit to the Opera House Tea Room in Lynden, Ontario in 2010.
Isn't the sweet gingerbread trim charming?
The tea room was located in the yellow extension.
I wished that I had photographed the musical themed menu and captured more images of the interior.
The afternoon tea was served on a tiered plate and a pretty bone china teacup.
The owner's daughter is a professional singer who performed special concerts on certain days. Unfortunately, I didn't catch one of her singing performances.
A few years after my visit, the owners retired and sold the Opera House.
I was glad that I had the opportunity to visit this unique tea room before it closed down.
I'm joining the following parties this week:
Hi Margie,
ReplyDeleteOh that Tea House looks gorgeous! You were lucky to visit it before it was sold. Ontario looks like it has so many special places to visit and hopefully someday I will get the chance to travel to Eastern Canada. Have a Wonderful Week! Blessings, Karen
The house really was nice, love the old Victorian homes with gingerbread - there are quite a few in our rural area.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad all the good tea rooms are closing, especially the ones in old homes with character.
Oh Margie, what a dreamy house to visit for tea! It is sort of a mix of Italianate and Gothic. So gorgeous, and I do love the fretwork/gingerbread trim! So glad you got to visit before it closed down.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
gina
Hello Margie, thank you for stopping by for tea. Your tea time here at this house was lovely. Always unfortunate when a good tea shop closes.

Terri
How wonderful that you were able to have tea in the Opera House before it was sold, Margie. It looks like the perfect tearoom, and one that I would enjoy visiting. Enjoy your week, my friend!
ReplyDeleteOh how lucky of you to get a chance to visit it before it closed. What a beautiful house!....Christine
ReplyDeleteHello, lovely lady! Oh, I can't tell you how happy I am to be visiting you and your wonderful blog. I missed you while on my break :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight to visit this charming place before it closed down. The photos you shared were so lovely and yes, the gingerbread trim is darling!
Hugs to you!
Margie, you always have a tea adventure to share with us! What a beautiful Victorian! I do love gingerbread trimming! Your tea time looked lovely and you enjoyed a nice assortment of treats too. Such a shame it closed down! If I was twenty years younger and had my health, I would love to open a tea room in an old Victorian. The Island doesn't have a lot to offer in the way of tea rooms and most are closed once summer is over. I'm glad you shared this with us.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Hi Margie: The house is so lovely. I love Victorian homes. The tea must have been wonderful. Have a bless week. Hugs, Martha
ReplyDeleteThat looks like it was right up your alley! How lovely! We lived in a Victorian at one time...still miss it! Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

Dear Margie:
ReplyDeleteI love sharing visits to tea rooms. I too got to go to one this week. This house where you went is darling. The Victorian Gingerbread trim is lovely. I know food looked good too. The Afternoon Tea tray is really sweet. Thanks for sharing and linking this wonderful occasion.
What a lovely tearoom! It's such a shame that most of them don't seem to last very long. I'm always on the hunt for tearooms. And, of course, I give afternoon tea parties at home. It seems everything I cook or bake depends on how well it goes with tea!
