I try to keep a finger on the pulse of the tea rooms in the Greater Toronto Area, but last year's opening of The Escarpment Tea Room somehow escaped my radar. Fortunately, a friend heard about this new tea room and took me there last month as a birthday treat!
The Escarpment Tea Room is in a red brick house on the grounds of the Italian Canadian Club of Milton.
The tables were set with pretty bone china teacups and teapots.
The Canadian and British flags were a nice touch!
Our table for two by the fireplace.
We received excellent service from the charming and attentive tea room owner, Edwina.
The bedazzled tea wagon offered an overwhelming choice of teas.
Because I'm intrigued by the unknown, I selected the "Mystery Tea" by Hyleys Tea Company--a delicious black tea with bergamot and hint of sweetness. It was later revealed that this special edition tea was called "For You" and created in celebration of European Women's Day.
My friend's green tea was served in this super cute elephant teapot.
Our tray of scrumptious sandwiches with 5 different fillings, mini quiches, and veggies with dip.
The delicious dessert tray.
The small round cookies with the green, white, or pink icing on top were a blast from my past. Edwina kindly let me try another tea, Hyleys Passion Fruit Tea, to enjoy with dessert.
"Tea is the finest solution to nearly every catastrophe and conundrum that the day may bring."
Last week, I enjoyed the remake of the Anne of Green Gables movie.
Interestingly, the majority of the film was shot at the Country Heritage Park which is just done the road from The Escarpment Tea Room.
Looks like we'll have to plan another Milton excursion this summer with visits to The Escarpment Tea Room and the Country Heritage Park!
I'm joining the following parties this week:
I always say this Margie, but I sure wish I could take along with you to these fabulous tea rooms! It's so nice that you have friends that enjoy tearooms, too. I loved the sentiment on the tea towel....so true!
ReplyDeleteI saw the old Anne of Green Gables movie, and would love to see the new one.
Enjoy your week, sweet friend!
Oops...I meant "tag along"!
ReplyDeleteLovely tea room to visit. I saw those elephant tea pots in a gift store in town last year. All the sandwiches and treats looked delicious.
ReplyDeleteDear Margie:
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful visit to a tea room. It is always fun to see the table, food and place. So glad you shared. Great fun!
I'd surely love to tag along with you to your tea parties, too. What a lovely time you have. Pretty tables, pretty food!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen so many teas offered - wow! The food looks good too and the whole experience of a tea room is delightful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun tea room! I like that you chose the mystery tea!
ReplyDeleteA very charming tea room - everything looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteThis is in my old stompin' grounds :) I worked at Glen Eden Ski hills when I was a teen (across the tracks from the country heritage park (where my sister worked). You may have even driven past my old house! Sounds like you had a nice tea time there. You find tea rooms in the oddest places!

Hi Margie, the tearoom is just adorable! Cute teapot and yummy looking treats! I don't know if they aired the Anne of GG remake here in the states? I need to see it! Love that movie, my favorite is with Megan Follows.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
Gina

Oh I love tea rooms. How nice of your friend to treat you to such loveliness and goodness...Christine
ReplyDeleteOh, Margie, I envy you all your tea outings! That tea room looks lovely. I really like their covered chairs and white table cloths. It all looks very pristine. The food looks amazing; yum, and the mystery tea sounds delicious. Toronto sounds like it offers some very interesting tea rooms. I'm sorry I never got there to visit while my son was going to school at U of T. Thanks for sharing with us and enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Oh, what a joy this must have been! I loved seeing what you ate and what teas you sampled. What a truly special day!
ReplyDeleteI actually wept because my daughter told me today my very favorite tea room closed. I didn't even know it. I am beyond sad, as I was planning on seeing about hosting a baby shower there, and now can't. Sniff. Another one bites the dust. Such a pity, this one had been in business constantly (not always as tea but always as a restraurant and before that an inn) since before cars were invented. And now it is gone. : - (
What a wonderful birthday treat, Margie! The tea room looks lovely (I so wish we had places like that!) and the sandwiches and desserts do look... scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteBelated happy birthday! xx
Hi Margie! It is always fun to discover new tea places! I would have been intrigued by the mystery tea too. That elephant teapot is quite fun.
ReplyDeleteYou know I have only been to a tea room once. I keep saying I'm going to go but never seem to get there. Looks like you had a lovely time. I just have to get into gear. Is that a newer version on Anne Green Gables? Happy weekende dearest with love Janice
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a great day visiting the tea room, the escarpment is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tea room. The only one that we had in our area just closed , much to my dismay...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!!
Hugs,Deb
