Despite the stifling heat, I still enjoyed a couple of tea parties this summer.
The first tea party was hosted in mid-August by my mom who is not much of a tea drinker but my love of tea time has rubbed off on her!
The pattern of this teacup is called "Shade Rose" by Bell China.
I had spotted the matching set of 8 cups and saucers, a sugar and creamer at a church sale earlier this summer. I didn't need any more teawares, but I thought that the pretty set would be perfect for my mom's newly renovated kitchen. No wonder I'm the favourite (aka only) daughter. HA!
We enjoyed sandwiches (not pictured) and sweets with English Breakfast tea.
I came decked out in my finest tea shirt!
At work, we bid summer adieu last week with a tea social!
We sipped Long Island Strawberry green tea from my purple floral chintz Porcelain Treasures tea set by Betty Platner.
The tasty snacks that were brought in by my co-workers.
How did you say goodbye to summer?
I'm joining the following parties this week:
Nice Tea and china! The mornings are now cooler but it still gets in the 90's during the day. I think we have a few more summer days in Georgia.
ReplyDeleteHa! Ha! I haven't said good-bye to summer yet. In many ways I feel like I haven't had a summer this year for several reasons and now Fall is right around the corner. Your tea time sounds lovely and I can see you love the colour purple, just like someone else we know. :-) The violet tea ware is so sweet! The treats look good and is that hummus I see? Yum! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your holiday Monday.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Margie, what a find at the church sale! And what a lovely tea. I did not host a single afternoon tea all summer, but will give one the moment I'm sure the day won't turn HOT! I drink hot tea at least eight times a day year round, but an afternoon tea is just too much work to do during hot weather.
ReplyDeleteThat teacup is so cute! Seems like you had a festive summer ♥

ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely find from the church sale. We are heading out to BC and will say goodbye to summer out there with tea parties with our grandkids out there.
ReplyDeleteOh friend, I simply LOVE your shirt {{smiles}} And your tea cup is quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful that you have "tea parties" at your work...how I would love to join in :)
Hugs!
Tea-Rex!! So you ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't said goodbye to summer, and by all accounts (both on the calendar and 'sweat' the thermometer pushing into the 30s) it's still here. Even so ... I paddled the day away on Labour Day. Love the china set. Great way for good old Mom to "Make Time for Tea"!
Wendy
Love that purple floral tea set.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tea is Cream Earl Grey that I buy from a small vendor in the wee hamlet of Maynooth Ontario. (Cassidy's)
Hello Margie,
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a nice summer. Temperatures are still very uncomfortable here so I am not ready to say goodbye yet. I think I will savor summer like temps while they last. But I have been working on a few fall projects to help me transition into fall.
Wishing you a wonderful week,
Janet
Hi Margie...cooler temps and leaves changing/falling here...so agree with your message. Love the pretty China...and the goodies look wonderful! Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

Very generous of you to give your mom that pretty set! And come on, can there really be too much? It's just that you get more selective :)
