Last week, I had plans to meet a friend for afternoon tea at Tea at the White House. Unfortunately, my friend got sick...but rather than cancelling our reservation, I opted to go on my own instead!
Tea at the White House opened their beautiful tea shop at their new location (35 Main St North, Waterdown, Ontario) in September. The tea room opened in late October. Reservations are a must!
The great wall of 170+ teas.
Because I love all things banana, I tried out the Darjeeling Select Reserve tea which "offers
flavors of flowers, freshly sprouting buds, pomello and even green
banana." (Source: Tea at the White House). I couldn't detect the banana, but I did enjoy
this light, floral tea.
My delicious cream tea was quite filling!

I'm so glad that Tea at the White House has found a permanent location so that I can enjoy their wonderful food, teas and service again!
Tea at the White House was recently featured in the local morning news. Click here to watch the 15-minute video which includes: discussion of afternoon tea vs. high tea, tea blending, scone baking, and a tea and chocolate pairing.
What a lovely place and those ear rings are very unusual and rather lovely xx
ReplyDeleteAmazing!Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYea for you in buying yourself something, Margie! I love the earrings and necklace. I did an impulse buy today, too. I bought a Christmas teacup (like I needed it!!). Tea at The White House would be such a delight, and I'm so glad that you went by yourself.
ReplyDeleteTea at the White House sounds amazing, Margie! I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and treated yourself to that cute necklace and earrings set. I had an impulse buy too which I plan to share in December. Sometimes you just can't walk away from certain things! I'm busy decorating and didn't get a post on yet. Have great week!
ReplyDeleteThose earrings are adorable and perfect for you.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a wonderful place! Hopefully, next time your friend will be able to join in on the fun! God bless you this beautiful Christmas season!
ReplyDeleteOh Margie, how I wish we lived closer to one another! A trip to this wonderful tea house would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this - so glad you went. It's not easy doing these things alone, but I too often do.
Sure hope your friend gets well soon - just getting over illness myself I am sensitive to your friend's timing. It isn't fun at all to be sick whilst preparing for the holidays. :-(
We need to patronize these places or they go out of business! I am heading to watch the video now.
Hugs and prayers. ♥
PS:
ReplyDeleteOH, Margie - I sooooo enjoyed that delightful documentary on the White House tea place - I laughed our loud and really liked it! I lost it when they were tasting the scones and the newscaster giggled maniacally - so so hilarious. Haha!
Now, I found the purple tea they sell REALLY fascinating! I never heard of anything like this. And their teas look soooooo good! WOW!
I think I need to visit you up north!
OH YAY they have a web site and one can order to try that purple tea, and maybe buy one of their cute scone cutters! (Wish shipping wasn't so high though, but alas, it is what it is.) : - )
DeleteIt looks like you had a delightful time! How wonderful it would be to visit a tea house like that! So glad you have this close to you!
