The Office

Recently, I decluttered my office desk and brought in some of my tea pretties to enhance my workspace decor.

This 2-cup teapot was a gift from my mom. The "Keep Calm and Drink Tea" message reminds me to keep my negative emotions in check during stressful times at work.

I love this mismatched white and gold teacup and saucer. I bought the orphan teacup for only a quarter at a garage sale a few years ago and found the saucer last summer at a local thrift store.

A few weeks ago, I accidentally broke the handle off. Whoops! I reattached it using super glue, but I didn't know if the repaired handle can be trusted to support a full cup of hot tea...so now this Paragon teacup functions as a teabag holder.

My other teawares were also repurposed to store stationery supplies and odds and ends.

This stackable silver teapot was from a church rummage sale a few years ago.

This Murchie's tea tin was a thrift store find.

This cute mug has a crack on its left side and now serves as a pen holder.

Last Wednesday, my co-workers and I welcomed the first day of fall with another social tea!

I brought in my retro teacups by JAJ Pyrex. This pattern is called " Autumn Glory".

Of course, we drank pumpkin teas!
I look forward to trying more pumpkin-flavoured teas this season!

I'm joining the following parties this week:

  3. Great uses of these different tea wares. I can't imagine a more elegant tea bag holder than your Paragon one. This weekend I saw so many pumpkin flavored teas at the grocery store. Would love to hear which one or ones you really liked. Have a great week!

  4. What a great find in the teacup and then the saucer to match. I love when that happens! Sometimes I repurpose teacups too with a votive candle or a wee flower arrangement. You have made good use of yours too. I really like the teapot from your mom. Pumpkin teas; mmm! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely week, Margie.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  6. So clever all the uses for your slightly damaged teawares. At least they have a new life brightening up your desk! I have to limit myself to a heavy mug at work...I'm apparently extra hard on mugs when there.

  7. What great things you've brought to the office, Margie. I love the mismatched cup and saucer and how nice that you've put the cup to good use. You and your co workers have a nice tea party, which must make for a conducive work environment. Now, which of your pumpkin teas do you like the best? I love to try seasonal flavors, like you!

  11. I hope your work friends enjoy the tea things you're using on your desk, it would be interesting to see in person. The Keep Calm Brown Betty would be a good reminder for me too to have patience.

  13. So special for you to take in the retro cups for your co-workers to enjoy their tea in. So much nicer than using styrofoam cups (ugh) or mugs. It's wonderful to have some pretties at your desk to give it a cozy feeling, esp during a stressful day. I have an Eeyore, too. I think he's adorable!

  17. I didn't realize that Pyrex made teasets and that one is very cheerful and summery (or autumny). And that looks like a very nice spread you had for morning tea - pumpkin tea sounds interesting.

  20. Hi Margie,
You sound like so much fun to work with. What fun to have a Fall Tea Party at work. I love your office teatime decor. What a cute idea!

I am so sorry that you didn't get the Aynsley $2.00 teacups and now regret it. I had to smile when I read that comment because I keep doing that too and don't follow my hubbies advice. A week ago I saw a cream coloured Sadler teapot for $8.00 in the states and didn't get it and just recently saw a rose one sell on e-bay for $510. U.S.!!!! Hubby and I went back to the little thrift store yesterday and of course the $8 Sadler teapot was gone. Michele at Finch Nest suggested that I start selling on e-bay so that my cupboards wouldn't be as full and you may possibly want to do this too. I just sold a flower decoration-bay on e that I got as a gift and it just wasn't my taste. It is a lot of work to post the item and mail it and of course I underestimated postage but at least I will declutter in the process. Happy Tea Day Margie! Have a Wonderful Week! Karen

  23. The addition of all these tea things must make you feel a little happy inside when you sit at your desk :) Such a shame about the teacup handle after you found the matching saucer. I just saw a clear tea pot at the thrift store this week, and although it made me pause and think about it, I left it on the shelf. Seeing your teapot makes me want to go back and pick it up for a cookie jar!

  25. When I worked in an office years ago, we'd call our afternoon coffee break 'Tea at Three'. It was always nice to stop and socialize for a few minutes -- a nice break. So I really enjoyed learning about your social tea with your co-workers to celebrate the first day of autumn. Love the Pyrex Autumn Glory set. Perfect!

    Wishing you a beautiful weekend!
