On October 18th, we celebrate Persons Day in Canada.

86 years after this milestone victory for women's rights, Canada had its first cabinet with equal number of men and women. The Famous Five would have raised their teacups to this gender-balanced cabinet!

"“Because of Her”, Canada’s democracy is stronger than ever.
Persons Day
reminds us all that women’s voices matter.
When women step forward and
make themselves heard, the changes they create benefit us all."

As a tribute to the "pink teas" held by the suffragists, I'm sharing this tea for one set that I purchased at a thrift store years ago. The pretty combination of pink roses and white polka dots is reminiscent of Royal Albert's Cheeky Pink design.
Pumpkin treat of the week: Pumpkin pie frozen yogurt from Yogurty's.
Public Service Announcement: The Celestial Seasonings holiday teas are now available at Bulk Barn and on sale for only $2.99 until October 27th! If you live in Ontario, you can also use this coupon for purchases over $10. It's never too early to buy Christmas teas!
I'm joining the following parties this week:
Happy Persons Day, Margie, and thank you for sharing about the Famous Five. I'll raise a cup of tea to them, too! Your teaset for one is darling. Enjoy all those seasonal flavors. They're like a sip of comfort, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the statues in Ottawa of the tea party and the famous women. Good to know about the seasonal tea at Bulk Barn, I actually just found a Merry mint teabag from last year tucked under some other tea in my tea chest.
ReplyDeleteThank heavens for strong women like the Famous Five, where would we be today without them?
ReplyDeleteThe public service announcement is duly noted thank you and the coupon downloaded! lol
See you for the Victorian Tea Saturday! ☕️
Beautiful tea for one set, Margie. Annie's Tea time has Whittard of Chelsea instant teas. They are in US. Google it...Christine
ReplyDeleteI'll raise my cup of tea to those strong ladies as well. I will be going in to Bulk Barn sometime this week to get my fruit for fruit cakes and I will be sure to check out the Christmas teas. Thanks for letting us know they are in. Your pink tea-for-one is really cute! Have a super week, Margie.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi

Bravo to all of the women who led the way for suffrage! I simply like the fact that the day is called "Persons Day." Words have power.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I will be keeping a look out for the C.S. holiday teas. I couldn't find them last year and I'm determined to find them this year.

Hi Margie, isn't it amazing that it really wasn't that long ago where women couldn't vote, etc. They definitely changed things for us. I'm going to have to remember to get to Bulk Barn, thanks for the info. I love your tea set. Take care.
