Scarecrows & Teas

October was a busy month at work, but we still managed to fit in a tea social last week!

We sipped Pumpkin Cheesecake Rooibos by David's Tea from my Fire King and JAJ Pyrex tea cups.

Our sweet treats include peanut butter fudge cookies, pumpkin spice cream cookies, baklava and Timbits (Stephanie, I enjoyed a Timbit for you!).

Does anyone know why Google Photos added that weird symbol in the centre?
We also had crackers with hummus, roasted harvest vegetables and veggie sticks (not pictured).

This past weekend was the Valley's annual "Scarecrow Saturday".
The displays created by the local businesses were a mixture of whimsy and horror.

Picone Fine Food's cute display encouraged us to "Shop Local".

This gorgeous wool coat from Terraware comes in purple.
But the $900 (!!!) price tag gave my wallet a fright!

I see a bad moon rising.

Scarecrow Gord Downie by Taylor's Tea Room was ahead by a century.

Of course, my favourite display was this adorable tea party by Stawberry Fields.

For today's Halloween potluck at the office, I made assembled these witches' brownies (take that, Pinterest!)

Pumpkin treat of the week: This delicious Pumpkin Spice tea from my teacup swap partner.

Come back on Wednesday for the big teacup reveal!

I'm joining the following parties this week:

  1. One of the things I miss about working is enjoying the weekly treat days. Looks like you had a wonderful selection. All the Hallowe'en displays look 'tea'riffic :)

  2. You know how I enjoy your tea socials at work, Margie! Your selection of teacups are pretty ones, too. I do love your brownie witch's hat and wish I had one with a cuppa tea. Your Scarecrow Saturday looked like a fun event. How was the Pumpkin Spice tea? I was tempted to buy that brand when I saw it recently, but always wish I could sample some first.

  3. What a social event this tea time at the office is becoming! You have the best little treats, and I think it's a cute quirky idea to bring in your own teacups. Such a tea nerd ;)
Love the scarecrows in the Valley! I remember Picone's "Market" from when I lived there ... ha! My mom would shop there before there was ever a thing called a "supermarket" (which involved driving). She would leave me and my brother home ALONE saying "I'm just going to Picone's Market, be right back". That was in the 60s when it was hip to leave your small children to fend for themselves for an hour. Glad to see Picone's is still thriving.

PS I have to now wait a week to watch DS on my computer...it used to be I could watch it the next day :[

  4. I'm enjoying the office tea parties too just by seeing the teapot, teacups and treats. I draw the line at a purple coat with a price tag of $900. (sigh, it is nice though:-)

  7. Looks like you've enjoyed some very delicious treats! Amazing that they'd let a skeleton wear such an expensive coat...and interesting to see all the scarecrows around town. A few years ago dummies took over the whole town of Ackley, Iowa (near me) year round! (Check out this news clip to see them.)
