Haunted mugs

It's spooky week!

You know I didn’t want to have to haunt you, but what a ghostly scene.

New addition this year: This Tim Hortons ghost mug changes colour when you fill it with a hot drink!

Are you a good witch or a bad witch?

So, they filled my cell with snakes...

Happy Halloween!

A pink truck and pink teacup

In October, the Mississauga Fire Fighters Benevolent Fund sell Pink Truck Tour gear (t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, quarter-zip sweaters, hoodies, and baseball caps) to raise funds for the Trillium Health Partners’ Cancer Program. The Pink Truck Tour has raised more than $1,000,000 since 2014!

I was more than happy to buy a hoodie and contribute to their 10-year anniversary goal of raising $100,000 this year!

This Royal Albert Lady Carlyle teacup belongs to my mom who was influenced to get it by her teacup-loving daughter!

Anne of Green Gables Mug

It seems only fitting that I share my handmade Anne of Green Gables mug this month.

This beautiful mug was crafted by Milushka, a talented potter in Croatia who specializes in storytelling ceramics.

“Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It’s splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.”

3rd Annual Ginormous High Tea Party at Steve's Teas

Last Saturday, I attended the 3rd Annual Ginormous High Tea Party hosted at Steve's Teas party.

Since the tea room was busy, I didn't get much photos during the party. But you can see the charming decor from my visit back in April.

The fireplace mantle's elegant fall decor.

Complimentary cucumber sandwiches and scones with Devonshire cream and jam were offered.

There were 3 different teas available:
1) Decaf Caramel Apple Iced Black Tea
2) Cream Earl Grey Black Tea
3) Sweet Chai O'Mine Black Tea (loved the name!)

I brought this pretty pink teacup from my collection to compete in 2024's Fanciest Tea Cup in Brantford, but I didn't win.

I enjoyed the Sweet Chai O'Mine Black Tea and Decaf Caramel Apple Iced Black Tea.

We loved the delicious scones so much that we purchased some for take-out.

I also brought home the tasty Apple Cider black tea.

Tea time at home: Scone with the tasty Vanilla Honeybush.

Acquiring a mug on my wish list

Raise your hand if you have a list of teawares that you're in search of (ISO) when you go thrifting.

A few weeks ago, I was at a local thrift store and couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted the DavidsTea watermelon nordic mug on their shelf! I practically skipped to the cash register!

The watermelon nordic mug was released several years ago and I always regretted not buying it when it was still available.

The mug was in pristine condition and came with a stainless steel infuser. It's perfect for my watermelon oolong teas!

I also couldn't resist picking up this cute colour-changing parrot mug.

Have you scored any thrifty treasures lately?

A new tea-themed journal

I found most adorable journal at Winners this month.

The cute design caught my eye because it featured two of my favourite fruity summer teas: bananas and watermelon!

Celestial Seasonings' Cold Brew Iced Tea

A few weeks ago, I found Celestial Seasonings Cold Brew Iced Tea at my local Dollar Tree.

A box of 18 tea bags of unsweetened black tea was only $1.50!

The instructions said to to steep 1 or 2 teabags for each 250 ml of cold water for 5 minutes. So I used 2 tea bags in my 16 oz (450 ml) glass.

The cold brew tea after 5 minutes.

It was a pretty weak tea, so next time I'll use 4 tea bags!

Jane Austen Blend

I've been hunting for a creamy jasmine tea, so when Murchie's Tasting Lab released the limited-time Jane Austen blend in July, I hit the checkout button on my cart!

The Jane Austen blend was comprised of black tea (Keemun, Ceylon), green tea (Jasmine, Gunpowder), white cornflowers, natural and artificial flavouring.

Of course, I paired the tea with my Emma teacup!

Murchie's tasting notes said it would have the "sweetness and cream of vanilla", but all I could taste was the jasmine. I added a splash of milk to get a creamier taste.

"I always deserve the best treatment, because I never put up with any other."

An Impromptu Tea Party

Last weekend, I had an impromptu tea party at my parents' place.

My mom purchased these pretty Royal Albert Lady Carlyle teacups and saucers several years ago.

The teapot is by Royal Oak China and was gifted to her by a family friend.

We enjoyed Dessert by Deb's delicious Pink Velvet Strawberry Charlotte Cake green tea. I've never actually had a Charlotte Cake before, but I enjoyed the green tea's fruity flavour!

Our  tea time treat was a mocha roll.

Life is short!
Use the fine china!
