A Vintage Violet Teacup

This week I'm sharing a vintage teacup that a friend gifted me from her collection.

 

 

Purple is my favourite colour so my friend knew that I would love the violets on the teacup! She also gave me this teacup display holder.

 

 

The teacup is too old and fragile to use for hot tea, so I'm only using it as decor. It matches my vintage Sadler violets teapot perfectly!

Garage Sale Haul: Two yellow teacups

Back in June, I went to a garage sale that was selling vintage English bone china teacups. I was tempted to bring them all home, but I restricted myself to only two teacups.

 

 

The first teacup is golden yellow and made by Taylor & Kent.

 

 

The second teacup is butter yellow and made by Grafton China.

 

 

These beauties are the perfect addition to my collection of yellow teacups!

A Crooked Teacup

Last April, I rescued some vintage bone china teacups from my office's swap fair.

 

 

One of the teacups was Royal Albert's Old Country Roses design.

When I arrived home, I realized that the teacup was crooked!

 

But the flawed teacup is still functional and will be enjoyed at tea time!

I recently acquired a vintage bone china teacup with a matching snack plate from a friend who was looking to rehome the set.

 

 

Of course, I was more than happy to give this lovely set a new home!

 

 

Last weekend, I went to my church's plant sale and picked up a couple of indoor plants: violets and a Christmas cactus. 

I accidentally scratched the inside of the pink floral teacup, so I repurposed it as a planter for my Christmas cactus! Here's hoping that these 2 plants will fare better than the Easter lilies! 

A Colclough Teacup

My office recently had a "Swap Fair" where people brought in items from home that they no longer want for other folks to snag. I happened to be working at home that day, but when a co-worker alerted me that someone had brought in some teacups, I rushed in to the office!

 

This vintage Colclough bone china teacup is one of the teacups that I rescued from the Swap Fair.

 

It's hard to tell from the photo, but I think the teacup is a very light cream/yellow colour.

 

The individual who brought in the teacups were happy to hear that they were going to a good home! 

Irish Breakfast Tea in a clover teacup

In honour of St. Patrick's Day (March 17th), I'm sharing this vintage Queen Anne teacup (circa 1960s) decorated with yellow flowers and green clovers.

 

 

Of course, I'm sipping Irish Breakfast in this charming teacup!

A Belated Birthday Present

A few weeks ago, I met up with a childhood friend who I hadn't seen in years. She missed my birthday party in January 2020 because of a snowstorm (one of the hazards of having a January birthday), and then the pandemic and life happened...

When finally got together last month, she brought my 2020 birthday gift, which I had totally forgotten about! Even though my friend and I hadn't seen each other in years, we picked up right where we left off!

 

 

I was delighted to receive this beautiful vintage bone china teacup.

 

 

This dainty teacup is part of Royal Albert's "Summertime Series".

A new blanket for fall

I'm a huge fan of the TV show, Gilmore Girls, so I've been keeping an eye out for their plush blankets at the TJ Max stores since last year. I was beyond thrilled when I finally found a Gilmore Girls blanket at Winners several weeks ago!

 

 

The blanket is super soft and and big enough to cover a loveseat.

 

 

Lorelai and Rory Gilmore were huge coffee drinkers. But I'm going to pretend these are teacups.
