On National Hot Tea Day (Jan 12), we had the first office tea social of 2018.
People brought their own cups. I brewed the Madeleine Cookie black tea by Monarch Tea which was a hit! Our tea was accompanied by a box of Girl Guide chocolate mint cookies and good conversation. It was a simple, but fun tea.
When my relatives came over to my place last weekend, I used my Blue Willow tea sets for our tea. Over the years, I've managed to collect 12 tea sets (one cup is missing a saucer) by different makers (e.g., Churchill England, Crown Clarence, Johnson Brothers).
I've also acquired a few mugs by Sadler.
The tea set on the right is a modern reproduction by Johnson Brothers.
I used my new "Drink Me" teapot to serve green tea.
My "Celebrate Life" teapot served the black tea.
Enjoy the last few days of Hot Tea Month!
I love Blue Willow, I have mine displayed in my Mother's 1920 china cabinet. Your "Drink Me" teapot is cute. I haven't seen one like it before.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Blue Willow collection, love it so much!Hugs,Margie!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a national day dedicated to hot tea, I didn't know there was one. I've started drinking more green tea in recent months, supposed to be good for you.

I don't have any Blue Willow, Margie, but I enjoyed seeing yours, and your darling teapots. I'm glad that your co-workers loved the tea that you brought.
ReplyDeleteMargie, your teapots are darling! I have a couple JB Blue Willow teacups and my teapot is made by Churchill. I'm glad to have them because the tea shop where I got them doesn't sell that kind of china any longer. They are all about Dunoon which is nice but very pricey. Glad you all enjoyed your tea at the tea social!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have a matching set! I actually think the set is more interesting because the cups/saucers are from different makers. I'm trying to learn more about transferware. I like how the different pieces match so well.
ReplyDeleteOnce again I'm envious your office has tea socials. I want to work there. :)
Margie, I just love that you have these tea socials at work! And what a lovely collection of Blue Willow. I have NO Blue Willow, but a few different Blue Onion.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun tea sicial at work. I had The White House tea you sent me and it was delicious. Thanks once again.
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful! I love these patterns and need to start browsing the thrifts and internet for them as I only have one cup and saucer that Stephanie sent me in the last tea cup exchange and I love it!
ReplyDeleteOh I adore those blue and white tea cups and saucers. I have some as well. I have a set of blue and white that belonged to my granny. Melts my heart. My Motherinlove also had a set of interesting blue and white dish pieces which was gifted as she passed. Not enough money Margie to buy those lovely heirlooms from me! Sounds like your tea was a hit! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI dearly love blue and white...surprise! Surprise! So your post is perfect for January, or ANY month as far as I am concerned! Lovely! Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea
