Many years ago, I was at a thrift store and spotted a $4 teapot that had seen better days. When I lifted it up to inspect the inside, I heard something rattle inside--a piece of the lid had broken off (can you see where I glued the piece back?). Because the dirty-looking teapot was "broken", the store gave me an additional 50% off...
...and that's how I scored this exquisite Shelley teapot for only $2!
Sometimes rules are meant to be broken!
What's your greatest thrifty find?
Oh my! What a find! This is such an elegant teapot...really special to have it in your collection!
ReplyDeleteYour Shelley teapot is lovely and so nice you could mend it. To be honest, i can't remember what my greatest score was. It has been quite some time since I went hunting for china. I don't have room for any more and Charlottetown's thrift stores are few and far between. What I had been doing up until the past year was giving away a teapot or teacup if I found one I couldn't live without. Hope your new week is wonderful, Margie.
ReplyDeleteFabulous find, I miss browsing in the thrift stores for bargains
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful! And the price...Almost a gift for you! Here is all too expensive...Have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shaped teapot! A real find. I can't think of any particular find from a thrift store. I am looking forward to the day when I can browse in one again!
ReplyDeleteWhat a buy, Margie! I cannot even see where you glued the piece of the lid back on. The teapot is simply stunning!
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog through a comment you left on "My Cubby Crafts"... I love your new teapot! I have a small collection of teapots and teacups myself. Thrift shopping can be a lot of fun. That is one of my mom and sister's favorite outings when we are together. Thanks for sharing your find!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it Margie. It's very pretty. Girl, that crack or broken piece reminds me of myself at times. Flaws...but still so very loved by our Lord. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteA wonderful find! I've been chasing an out-of-print book for years and then found it in a charity shop for 50p. It was a very satisfying day.

Beautiful! I once got a vintage typewriter at a garage sale for 25.00. The kids were doing the pricing and they didn't have it priced. I asked, they discussed and said, oh that was just our mom's old typewriter when she worked at Illinois Bell . . . how about 25.00? Without missing a beat, I paused thoughtfully as if weighing it's worth and then casually said, ok. I guess I'll take it. Then I quickly paid and practically ran to my car (well struggled because it was so heavy!) hoping they didn't come to their senses before I drove off!
ReplyDeletewhat a beauty!
