Transitioning to Fall

Although fall doesn't officially start for another 11 days, I've already started bringing out my seasonal decor.

This lovely teacup came from a friend's late mother's teacup collection.
The yellow and brown colours are perfect for autumn.

As usual, I'm unfamiliar with these yellow flowers (hibiscus, maybe?).
If you know, please enlighten me!

Interestingly, the saucer and teacup have different Windsor China backstamps.
The saucer backstamp was circa 1946+, while the teacup backstamp was circa 1950+.

The colouring of the "newer" teacup is noticeably darker than the "older" saucer.

If you missed out on all the teacup exchange fun last spring, registration for the 11th exchange starts on September 13th. Click here to visit The Enchanting Rose now!

I'm joining the following parties this week:

  1. Like you, I have a couple of autumn-themed teacups. How pretty yours is. I'd guess the flower is a hibiscus. You're right, it's time to bring them out. The evenings are drawing in earlier and there's beginning to be a chill in the air!

  3. What a pretty teacup, Margie, and the colors are perfect for Fall. I think the flower is hibiscus. I haven't started to bring any Fall decor out yet, but I need to get inspired, and in the mood.

  4. Well I can't recognize the flower -- maybe it's a 'make believe' flower lol. Pretty colors nonetheless!

  5. I'm trying to figure out how I can decorate for fall with PINK!! Even though I love fall, oranges and yellows don't make me as happy as pink. Pink velour pumpkins, haha!
I think someone broke the cup and later replaced it, which means your set was much loved. Makes it even more special I think.
And thank you for reminding me about the teacup exchange. Don't want to miss that! xo

  6. I agree with Deborah abut the cup and saucer being two separates. I like the shape of the cup; it's lovely! I am not into oranges and browns very much and I don't decorate too much for autumn. I do like pumpkins though and especially the white ones. In the past I have painted many of them pink and added a little glitter. The best thing about Autumn in my opinion is pumpkin pie and pumpkin chai! ;) Have a lovely week, Margie.

  8. Very pretty :) Despite the heat through these days, the nights are getting crisp! The colours will soon burst on The Peak! Cheers Margie!

  10. Margie, I wonder if the company decided after a few years to make the pattern a stronger color? I never decorate for the seasons - I like looking at what others do, but I just can't quite manage it myself!

  11. So pretty, I love teacups and saucers, the loveliest things. Fall is such a wonderful time of years and it's warm colors are the best ever.
    Happy Fall.
