The Rose

Last month, I was thrilled to be gifted 8 (!!!) vintage teacups and a tea set from a friend. She had inherited a large collection of teawares from her late mother and I was very touched that she thought of sharing them with me!

Given the recent birth of Britain's new Princess, it seems fitting that the first teacup that I share from this collection is by Royal Castle.

Yellow is one of my favourite colours so a yellow teacup is always a welcome addition to my collection.

The pink roses are exquisite!

 The Royal Castle backstamp.

For the inaugural tea, I chose my favourite tea this spring: Davids Tea's Melon Drop.

The fruit infusion even matches the teacup's pretty yellow colour!

The Melon Drop tasted sweeter in this gorgeous teacup!

I'm joining the following parties this week:

  1. I love it! Roses are my favorite and Pink is just beautiful! How generous of your friend.

  2. I love the vintage teacup, and also how the teapot matches it, along with the tea blend! Perfect!

  3. Very pretty pattern, love the soft, soft yellow.

  4. How generous your friend is! I love the soft yellow adorned with the gorgeous pink roses. Very pretty, Margie! Thanks for sharing.

  5. Now that is really pretty Margie. I love that your friend shared. Isn't that wonderful. God bless her for being so kind!

  6. Hi Margie: I have never seen that cup. It is so very cute. Love the large roses. Have a wonderful Mother's Day. Blessings, Martha

  7. Such a pretty teacup! Love how the yellow brightens the pink roses. I have never heard of "Royal Castle" pottery before. So fun to learn about vintage or new English potteries. It certainly is the perfect teacup for Princess Charlotte.
    Have a nice tea week,

  8. Margie, it's 6:30am and you and all the people commenting are talking about how lovely the yellow is; and I am thinking I can't see yellow, what on earth is wrong with me!! I look again at the last photo and see the saucer is lemon and realize oh yes they are yellow. Gosh you got me really thinking there!! Woke me up as well. After all that, yes I like the set......

  9. Oh Margaret, what a lovely tea cup! The gold rim on the bottom is quite breathtaking. Enjoy your day, my friend. Hugs!

  10. Oh my goodness, what a sweet and lovely teacup. It is made all the more special by being gifted from a friend and is a "pass along" teacup holding good memories.
    Best, Ruthie

  11. Absolutely beautiful and charming!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

  12. Hi Margie,

  13. Thanks for your visit.
This is a lovely teacup, I think the creamy yellow is so lovely and summery, especially with the roses on it.

  14. Oh Margie! The shape of this tea cup is simply exquisite and the tea sounds so interesting... How thoughtful of your friend to bless you with this lovely!
    Hugs to you!
